Very good points Sarah! However, I would have to say the last paragraph is my favorite. ( :

As much as it pains me, I completely agree. You have to give Obama credit for sticking to his vision - whether we like it or not. However, I also hope he is a one-termer and that some balance of power is restored in Congress this november... not pleased with the majority of what is going on!

I'm with you on this one. I think it all has to start at an early age. I fully believe you have to make your children serve you - then they may start to understand it's not all about them. I believe a lot of parents do everything for their children and it does more harm than good. Your children are not incapable of doing chores or simple tasks. Sure it might be a little more work in the beginning and you may have to walk them through each step and maybe clean up a little of what they left behind - but isn't that your job - to be the parent/teacher? If they don't take ownership of their belongings and your belongings - how are they suppose to learn to care. Your children will only do what you expect of them - set your expectations HIGH!!! They can handle it and it won't scar them for life. For goodness sakes - life isn't fair and children need to understand this and accept it. They don't have to have everything - just your love and support!!

Quoting you:
"Come on, who needs to keep promises to the American people? Maybe they’ll get irritated for a day, but then they’ll put their focus back on March Madness or American Idol, right?"

You realize the same things were said about Republican leaders' view of their supporters during Bush's presidency, right? (Or any other Republican for that matter).

March Madness, American Idol, etc mean WAY more to most EVERYONE than anything political (sadly), and politicians count on this. Don't be sloppy in applying this rule only to your caricature of conniving Democrats.

The plan is much like the plan that Mitt Romney put in place in Massachusetts, and it may not be the perfect plan, it would have been better if it was more Bi-Partisan, but the GOP made a political decision instead of a leadership decision and failed to lead. The Democrats may take a hit in 2010 but health care reform is here to stay. The Democrats took a big hit in the 60's after passing the unpopular Civil Rights Act when the Rednecks and Racist flocked to the GOP, and it took political courage to do it. Being the party of no, may have some short term effects but for the long term I don't think so. We shall see if the American People choose to reward Leadership or Politics. Having said all of that I enjoy your blog, J may not always agree with you, but your arguments are always reasoned and well thought out.

I agree with you on every count. I am so upset about what has happened - I don't even know where to begin. I'm glad that you could put some words to my frustration. Perhaps the good that will come out of this whole, ugly process is that people WILL begin to pay more attention - and begin the slow process of restoring the constitution.

Thank you for writing this, Sarah. It is a sad day for America, but we must fight so that your children and my grandchildren will be able to live in freedom. I am determined to work for good candidates in WV and to keep praying for our nation.
